Genshin Impact also uses a pity system that will slightly raise your chances of getting rarer rewards if you get too many 3 star pulls, or a lot of 4 star pulls without a 5 star unlock. You won't know which exact reward you'll get from a wish when you spend currency - but the game will tell you what the chances of getting certain rarity tiers are. Wishes can pull from different limited-time events on the Genshin Impact Banner Schedule, or a standard wish - called Acquaint Fate - to give you a chance to obtain specific characters or weapons. You start the game with a character known as the Traveler, and are able to unlock a few others by playing through the main story, but the majority of characters can only be unlocked by "pulling" from a pool of possible weapons and characters by spending a currency called Primogems in order to perform Wishes. Genshin Impact follows a similar free-to-play model to many "gacha" games.
